Commencement Ceremony of TAZARA
1970年10月26日和28日,中國(guó)援建的坦贊鐵路分別在起點(diǎn)和終點(diǎn)舉行了盛大的開(kāi)工典禮。
Grand commencement ceremony of TAZARA was held at the starting point and ending point of the railway on October 26 and 28 respectively in 1970.
坦贊鐵路始于坦桑尼亞的達(dá)累斯薩拉姆,終至贊比亞的卡皮里姆波希,全長(zhǎng)1860.5公里,是一條貫通東非和中南非的大干線,被非洲人民稱為“自由之路”、“友誼支路”。中、坦、贊三國(guó)人民在千里施工線上甘苦與共、并肩戰(zhàn)斗,沖破一切艱難險(xiǎn)阻,歷時(shí)五年八個(gè)月,終于提前完成全線鋪軌任務(wù)。
Running 1,860.5 km from Tanzania's Dar es Salaam in the east to KapiriMposhi in central Zambia in the west, TAZARA is the mainrail lineconnecting East Africa with the central and southern parts of the continent reputed among the Africans as the "Railway ofFreedom" and the "Railway of Friendship". The workers from China, Tanzania and Zambia worked side by side to break through all difficulties and obstacles along the rail and finally completed the track laying in advance within five years and eight months.

The Epitaph for Chinese Experts
20世紀(jì)60年代,坦桑尼亞和贊比亞喜獲獨(dú)立,但仍面臨外部勢(shì)力封鎖,渴盼鐵路通道。尼雷爾和卡翁達(dá)總統(tǒng)求助毛澤東主席,定下中國(guó)援建大計(jì)。5萬(wàn)多名中國(guó)工程技術(shù)人員與坦贊人民一道,夜以繼日,攻堅(jiān)克難,于1976年建成全長(zhǎng)1860.5公里的坦贊鐵路,共有65名中國(guó)專家獻(xiàn)出寶貴生命。坦贊鐵路被譽(yù)為“自由之路”,是中國(guó)對(duì)非洲的偉大貢獻(xiàn)和中非友誼的豐碑。為此獻(xiàn)身的中國(guó)專家義薄云天,雖死猶生。長(zhǎng)江為之高歌,乞力馬扎羅山為之仰頌。用鮮血與生命鑄成的中非友誼萬(wàn)古長(zhǎng)青!

Though Tanzania and Zambia won independence in 1960s, they were still facing the blockage of outside forces and were eager to build a railway channel. President Julius KambarageNyerere and President Kenneth David Kaunda asked Chairman Mao Zedong for help. They finally made the strategic decision that China should finance and undertake the construction of the Tanzania-Zambia Railway. More than 50,000 Chinese engineers and technicians worked side by side with the people in Tanzania and Zambia. For days and nights, they overcame great difficulties and completed the construction of TAZARA of 1,860.5 km long in 1976. During the construction process, in total 65 Chinese experts, technicians and workers lost their lives. Reputed as the "Railway of Freedom", TAZARA is a great contribution of China to Africa and a historic witness to China-Africa friendship. The Chinese dedicated their lives to this great cause show high morality reaching up to the clouds and their spirits shall live forever. Even the Yangtze River and the Mount Kilimanjaro sing the praise for them. The China-Africa friendship forged with blood and life will live forever.

1998年坦桑尼亞遭受特大洪水災(zāi)害,中央鐵路基本上都被沖垮,坦贊鐵路依舊巋然不動(dòng)。
